Just months after being dumped in favour of Coolamon for the annual fixture, Collingullie have accepted a request to return to the Anzac Day football extravaganza.
Coolamon initially accepted the opportunity to play Wagga Tigers on Anzac Day but have since had a change of heart due to it’s clash with the town’s annual harness racing meeting.
Collingullie then helped AFL Riverina rearrange the draw by agreeing to take Coolamon’s place in the Anzac Day game at Robertson Oval.
“We don’t make a habit of changing the draw once it’s been released,” AFL Riverina football operations manager Shane Buchanan said.
“Collingullie-Glenfield Park, to their credit, were happy to help both football clubs and were prepared to change.”
Collingullie were set to have the bye in round two, when the Anzac Day game is scheduled.
Coolamon will now have the bye in round two.
Collingullie will take Coolamon’s bye in round seven.
The two clubs have also swapped their round 11 and 16 byes.
Collingullie have been involved with the Anzac Day game on all three occasions since Wagga Tigers and Group Nine club Kangaroos started it in 2013.
Wagga Tigers chose to bring in Coolamon for this year’s game in a bid to change things up, given Collingullie no longer had their association with Kapooka.
Kangaroos with again host Brothers in the Group Nine game that is also played at Robertson Oval on Anzac Day as part of the special occasion. The game is on Monday, April 25.
