A group of Notre Dame medical students have only been in the city for a fortnight and thought entering the Gumi would be the perfect opportunity to get involved in the community.
Chris Wilson said the group plans to build a couple of gumis – one being a golf tee-off raft and the other being a golfing green.
“We’ve got a couple of keen golfers here, so we came up with the idea,” Mr Wilson said.
The group will enter their ambitious rafts into the odd bods category.
“We’re not looking at going fast,” Mr Wilson said.
The South Wagga Apex Gumi race will be held on Sunday, with races starting at 10am.
