Already one of the busiest off-seasons in recent times, the player movements have continued with Waratahs confirming they’ve secured another two players from Ag College.
Waratahs have added extra forward power with representative prop Tom Dunstan joining the club, as well as teammate Ollie Connell.
Dunstan will make the switch from Ag College following a year back in Wagga.
A regular in the Southern Inland representative team, Dunstan returned from a stint in Canberra last season but has elected to move away from the university club.
Waratahs coach Will Mitchell was thrilled to be able to add Dunstan to their front row unit.
“He’s a bloody good prop and a good player to have around,” Mitchell said.
“We are stoked he has come over.”
With the likes of James Daley, Mick Gooden, Chris Murray and Harry Cook already in the front row mix, Dunstan’s addition gives Mitchell more options.
With Gooden shelving talk of retiring, he could find himself playing in the second row as Mitchell looks to juggle his new look roster.
“We’ve got a lot of really good front rowers now,” Mitchell said.
“It’s great as the most important bloke on your bench is your tighthead prop.”
Connell will also add strength to the Waratahs pack.
Mitchell expects him make an impact.
“He’s been in Wagga training and seems like a nice guy to have around,” he said.
“I haven’t seen too much of his footy but he’s a big lad and imagine he would slip into the second row.
“It adds a bit of competition to the second row as well.”
Mitchell believes having competition for places will bring out the best in the players at the club.
Dustan and Connell join Sam and Tom Hobbs in making the move from Ag College.
The Hobbs brothers’ move was announced last week while Waratahs have lost Jayden Stanton and Pat Cantwell to Wagga City.
