Lane will team up with Lachie Hunter in the ruck after he signed with the Eagles from Ovens and Murray League club Corowa-Rutherglen.
The 23-year-old spent last season overseas playing cricket in the United Kingdom but has played 78 senior games for the Kangaroos since 2009.
Narrandera captain-coach Tim Sullivan believes Lane will be a great asset to the Eagles.
“He’s a quality player,” Sullivan said.
“It’s good to get the monkey off the back with recruiting because it’s been a lot of hard work.
“We looked at Jarred a year or so ago when he didn’t know what he was doing but he went and played cricket in England.
“He’s a good bloke and a quality footballer. Hopefully he can help out and be around for a few years.”
Lane played predominantly in the ruck for Corowa-Rutherglen and also represented NSW Country at the Australian Country Championships in Wagga in 2012.
He also has the ability to spend time forward and has kicked 45 goals in his last four seasons at Corowa.
“It gives us two mobile big men now, which is good,” Sullivan said.
“He can swap with Lachie (Hunter) in the ruck but it will depend where we need him. He can play forward and back as well.”
Most importantly for Narrandera, Lane will move to town in the new year.
He will arrive with his partner Jess Bice, who is an accomplished netballer in her own right.
For the Eagles it continues a new approach where the club is trying to avoid the recruitment of ‘travelling’ footballers.
“We’re trying to stay local and get blokes to town,” Sullivan said.
“Jarred is moving to town, that way he gets to be a part of it and see what it’s all about.
“Having someone like him there at training, helps others improve too.”
