The reigning Riverina League premier has added two of the Hume League’s brightest talents to their group for next year’s premiership defence.
Holbrook’s Tom Keogh and Osborne teenager Matt Klemke have both signed with the Demons.
Mitch Castles will also return to the club after an injury-interrupted year at Billabong Crows, while the Demons have also welcomed Pat Noonan on board.
Collingullie coach Brett Lenon was happy to welcome some new blood to the club.
“We had a slow start to recruiting and we’ve still been pretty steady but I’m happy with how we’re going,” Lenon said.
“We’re still talking to a couple of good ones and we’re very confident with them.”
Keogh represented the Hume League this year and was named in Holbrook’s best in nine of his 12 games.
“Tom’s six foot three, mobile and he could be pretty versatile for us,” Lenon said.
“He could play centre-half-forward, centre-half-back or pinch hit in the ruck. He’s keen to play on-ball and he’ll get the opportunity to do that.
“I’ve got no dramas with a having a big fella on-ball that is mobile like that.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him play because from all reports he’s a good player and loves his footy.”
Matt Klemke played for NSW-ACT Rams in the TAC Cup this year, while also managing 10 senior games for Osborne.
“My sources say he’s a class act, very polished,” Lenon said.
“He’s a very good running type of footballer with the ability to kick goals.
“He’ll be in the midfield and up forward but he’s still only a young fella.”
Matt is the brother of Demons’ best and fairest winner Jayden Klemke.
Jayden is yet to re-sign with Collingullie but is expected to do upon the completion of harvest.
Lenon is also happy to have Castles and Noonan at the club.
Castles joined Billabong Crows last year but injured his knee early and underwent a knee reconstruction.
Noonan will be in a similar situation as he recovers from a knee reconstruction.
He has proven himself as a more than handy player during his time at Tigers.
“We’ll be nursing them through and making sure they’re 100 per cent right before we put pressure on them to play first grade,” Lenon said.
