The Kiwi centre made a big impact in his first season in Group Nine before a broken ankle curtailed his year with the Blues.
However Southcity has swooped, securing his services for next season.
Captain-coach Nick Skinner believes he’ll be a big asset for the club.
“When we played them last year he did quite a bit of damage against us,” Skinner said. “We beat them pretty easily and he was probably their best player.
“It will definitely be good for us.”
McGuire’s signing was announced at Friday night’s presentation, with Skinner taking out the club’s best and fairest award.
“I didn’t really expect to win that but it was good,” he said. “It’s been a pretty good year for the club, overall in all grades, so it wasn’t a bad night.”
