The festival went off without a hitch, as scores of people lined the main street to catch a glimpse of the straw-filled entrants under perfect spring skies.
Attractions including variety stalls, music by Jarrod Sherman and Rick Jenkins with Play It Cool and the famous beard and moustache competition were crowd favorites.
An exhausted Col Patterson, the event organiser, said the festival is designed to put Coolamon on the map.
“That’s what we want to do – promote our town – and the crowd was just as good as last year,” he said. “It’s something creative, a bit unique and all the kids enjoy it – we like to see that.”
The festival also coincided with the official opening of the Coolamon Fire Station Museum.
Opened by Fire and Rescue NSW Commissioner Greg Mullins, the museum brings together firefighting memorabilia from across the state, country and world.
