They are all participating in the Leukaemia Foundation’s quirkiest fundraiser, U.G.L.Y. Bartender of the Year.
U.G.L.Y. stands for ‘Understanding, Generous, Likeable-You’ and bar tenders in the region will raise money until the end of October.
Laura Strano and Madi Smith from the Farmers Home are among bar tenders who will wear the ‘I’m U.G.L.Y. – I need help’ shirts as they play their part to raise money for those with blood cancer.
Staff are assisting Miss Strano and Miss Smith to raise more than $2000 through generous donations and events run this month.
Patrons purchasing a beer have been willing to donate their change and a lolly guessing competition could see entrants take home a sweet prize.
“You’ll find that people are really generous,” Miss Strano said.
“It’s really nice to be able to give back.”
Staff are sacrificing their tips straight into the donation bucket and a jug full of coins and notes has already been collected.
Bar tenders from the William Farrer, Wagga Boat Club and Tolland Hotel are also participating.
