Miss Scott was tragically murdered earlier this year, allegedly by school cleaner Vincent Stanford.
Since her death LHS has been overwhelmed with support from the community, as well as schools from near and far.
One of those lending a hand is YAHS.
The school’s SRC held a fund-raiser last Wednesday to raise funds that will assist LHS in the construction of an outdoor amphitheatre in Miss Scott’s honour.
Around $800 was raised on the day.
YAHS teacher and close friend of Miss Scott, Melissa Carn, said students and staff were eager to take part in the day.
“The SRC wanted to hold the day to show support for a fellow public school,” she said.
“They all heard of what happened and they knew how close I was with Steph.
“They wanted to do something to help out.”
A sausage sizzle was held, with staff and students also wearing yellow on the day.
“The idea (behind) wearing yellow was because that’s been the colour that’s represented Steph and her personality,” Mrs Carn said.
“We held the day to help raise the awareness of stopping violence against women.”
LHS is moving ahead with plans for the amphitheatre, which has been given the go ahead by the Department of Education and Communities.
LHS head English and drama teacher Melissa Anthony thanked YAHS for its support.
“All of the money raised certainly does help,” she said.
“It means we can go bigger and better with it.
“The support we’ve had is just overwhelming.
“Schools that have no connection to us have been holding fund-raisers.
“It’s fantastic that YAHS have joined in on that and we really want to thank them.
“It’s a lovely gesture on their behalf. We’re really grateful.”
LHS is also creating a garden on its grounds that will further honour the memory of Miss Scott for the many years to come.
