The Hoppers were never really in it after quarter-time as Collingullie-Glenfield Park ran away with a 29-point win.
“We were a long way off where we wanted to be today,” Hard said.
“No excuses, coming in our preparation was good, we thought we were in a pretty good headspace but to Collingullie’s credit they were too good for us today.
“We just went away from what we’ve been doing a little but and you can’t do that in finals footy.”
Hard pinpointed work rate and skill level as two areas that let his team down.
“We got beat in the midfield and our work rate was down, it’s as simple as that, we just didn’t work hard enough for each other,” he said.
“We turned the footy over too easily too, you work so hard to get possession and then turn it over and give it straight back, it hurt us.
“We turned the footy over far too much when there was no need to do that.”
Hard found it easy to sum up their year.
“Out in the first week of finals, no one wants to be in that position,” he said.
“I know personally I’m very disappointed with our year.
I think we’ve got a good list, we’ve unearthed a few good kids...,we’ve given good game time to them...but I’m still very disappointed with where we’ve finished right now.”
