Now a favourite among school kids – as well as their parents – the annual event has been building up year after year, according to Henschke Primary School librarian and teacher Tania Davis.
“It’s a real highlight of the school calendar,” Ms Davis said.
“The kids get excited about dressing up.”
The parade is only one aspect of the busy week, with 22 classes putting together colourful displays to brighten the school library.
“It’s good to see the kids have a focus on reading and showing a love of books,” Ms Davis said.
While Frozen characters were quite popular, Ms Davis was impressed by the creativity shown across the school.
“There were some really inventive ideas. From Minecraft with swords and headpieces, to a group of kids dressing up as The Wiggles,” she said.
“It’s nice for the children to dress up and celebrate books.”
