Asylum had their most recent victory in Melbourne on the weekend.
“In previous tournaments communication’s been an issue,” team member Michael Warner said.
“This round we knew what we wanted to do, we got out and did it, we talked and everything went well on the field, it just showed that we’ve grown.”
Asylum have acquired a taste for a more challenging level of competition. They will play in the ‘open’ division in October.
You would be forgiven for thinking that the best paintball teams in the league operate in complete silence, masking their every move from enemy teams. However, like most team sports, the louder you are, the better.
“The opposition, they don’t care what we’re saying because they’ve got their own things to worry about.
As back-centre Warner’s the main communicator, relaying messages to players on his left and right. “It’s a strong role for someone with a big voice.”
The local group has blossomed, starting with seven regular players and now endowed with 25.
