The three-year-old filly is part owned by a number of Greater Western Sydney footballers.
AFL stars Heath Shaw and Rhys Palmer along with teammates Nathan Wilson, Aidan Corr and Leeton’s Jacob Townsend have purchased 50 per cent of the New Zealand filly who is being trained in Leeton by Phil Maguire.
Reece Maguire said he’d previously discussed with purchasing a pacer with school friend Townsend and the five Giants players jumped at the chance to buy the daughter of Art Major.
“They are all keen as mustard and want to know about the horse and what she can do,” Maguire said.
“It gives them all something to follow.
“I’ve been receiving inboxs on Facebook as Townno (Townsend) has been texting me a fair bit about it.
“They all want to know when the barrier draw is out.”
The three-year-old filly was set to debut for the Maguire stable at Albury on Wednesday before the meeting was abandoned due to a lack of nominations.
Now the stable is aiming for Wagga’s meeting for the former Kiwi.
“We were hoping to go to Albury more so as a trial just because we don’t know what we’ve got with the horse,” Maguire said.
“We’ve seen her race obviously, but Wagga is going to be a bit more serious but it does give us a bit more time to get her right.
“Hopefully she goes alright for the boys.”
The filly has had five starts in New Zealand for two placings and is coming off a third at Dunedin earlier this month.
Leeton’s Deb Barker owns the remaining 50 per cent of the filly and she has been having a lot of success with another former New Zealand horse Im Johnny Jet.
The three-year-old has won four of his seven starts in the Riverina with another three seconds to his name.
Enjoying success with former Kiwis, Maguire believes the stable will be looking at buying more horses form across the Tasman in the future.
“We’ve offered good money for some in Victoria and they haven’t wanted to sell but they all seem to want to sell in New Zealand so that is going to be the plan from now,” Maguire said.
“We’ve had a few people ring up to buy Im Johnny Jet but we’re not going to sell him as I think he’s going to be a nice little horse.
“(Deb) has been very loyal to us and we’ve been pretty lucky with her horses”
