In-form Marrar player Bryce Graetz was injured in the second quarter on Saturday as Marrar played The Rock-Yerong Creek at Victoria Park.
Graetz damaged his anterior cruciate ligament, was stretchered off the ground, and a physiotherapist attended to the injury.
The key half-back player will be sorely missed; just last week Marrar coach Nic Casey was praising Graetz for his instincts and ability.
Two weeks ago Marrar had nine players on the injured list, forcing Casey to search for new recruits.
His endeavours were fruitless, being so late in the season Casey was unable to acquire reinforcements before the June 30 deadline.
