Gripping hockey sticks and footballs, they have their eyes on the prize.
Wagga soccer legend Sally Shipard will launch the games on Sunday at the official opening ceremony.
Matilda Murphy dabbled in soccer at high school and decided to get involved for this year’s games.
“It’ll be great to step onto the field and try to win,” she said.
Wagga City Council events manager Sally Nolan said the games would have a positive impact on the city.
“Most of those attending the games will be staying in accommodation within the city as well as the university. The average length of stay will be five nights.”
