- Chair of the Australian Tourism Industry Association Sir Frank Moore officially opened the Charles Sturt Riverina convention centre at Wagga.
- Norman and Ivy Thompson celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. They were married on Ivy’s 20th birthday at St Andrews Church, Wagga.
- Lou Loiterton celebrated his 100 birthday at the Wendy Hucker Nursing Home with his brother, two sisters and many of his 11 surviving children.
- Founders Day Awards were presented to Joy Schultz and Lesley Grauer by Scouts Area Commissioner, Tom Lock and District Commissioner, Rob Gee.
- Marj Hamill and Jim Nelson are pictured attending the “Piece of History” day at the Wagga Historical Society Museum.
- The Union Club drive-thru bottle shop was advertising Miranda Spumante for $1.99 a bottle and VB and Fosters twist tops for $13.99.

- Some £2391/15/7 was raised in Wagga during a two-hour appeal for the Freedom from Hunger Campaign.
- Former Miss Wagga, Jeanette McGarry married Mr Geoffrey Cox at St John’s Church Wagga.
- Det. Sgt. Les Lundie warned businessmen to guard against “highly intelligent” thieves who have stolen more than £20,000 in the Riverina District.
- Students have moved into the new classroom block constructed at Wagga Christian Brothers High School.
- The first donation of £5 for the newly formed Air Ambulance Committee was received from pupils at Mt Erin High School.
- Area Director of Education, Mr J F Bingham said that there were no plans at present to construct a high school at Kooringal.
- Wagga Tourist Committee has requested that Wagga City Council seal the driveway to the scenic lookout at Willans Hill.
