Farrer League finalised their preparations with a training session on Wednesday night where McPherson named his final 22.

“Satisfied” with the line-up, McPherson admits the opposition is a big unknown.

“I’ve got no idea about them to be honest,” McPherson said.

“They’re obviously going to be stronger than last year, with twice as many clubs to pick from.”

Riverina League beat Picola South-East by 108 points last year.

Picola League have since combined their South East and North West representative units into one team.

McPherson hopes the leg speed within the Farrer League team can expose their opponents on Robertson Oval.

“We want to win the ball firstly, then spread and use the spaces of Robbo Oval with our leg speed out wide," he said.

“When you look at our forwards, if we can get in quick enough, they’re going to win the contest.”

Farrer League announced on Wednesday night that young Temora forward Matt Wallis will captain the representative team.

Having moved from Adelaide to join Temora last year, Wallis was a key ingredient in the Kangaroos’ third straight Farrer League premiership.

He will play at centre-half-forward.

East Wagga-Kooringal ball-winner Joe Scott has been named vice-captain.

Scott has travelled from Coolac to make every training session.

It is a strong show of faith in both men by McPherson with neither men being club captains.

While a lot of key Farrer League personnel have made themselves unavailable for Saturday, McPherson is still happy with his team.

“I’m satisfied,” he said.

“We’re probably a bit short on height, especially if Luffy goes down.

“Blokes have missed out so that makes a good team.

“Everyone playing, wants to play, which is good.”

Jeremy Luff's availability will not be known until Friday night.
