University Theatre Ensemble (UTE) students have been without a designated rehearsal and performance space for three years while the Riverina Playhouse was closed as council completed their gasworks.

But the Riverina Playhouse is re-opened this week in time for the launch of the UTE’s 2015 season of performances.
“We haven’t had a proper theatre space to work in,” acting for screen and stage lecturer, John Saunders, said.
“This compliments our course beautifully … it’s so great for the students because they get to work in a proper theatre facility.”
The Riverina Playhouse was closed in 2012 when council carried out a series of works to determine pollution levels from gasworks.
The official re-opening of the playhouse will be held tonight from 6.30pm.
