The couple decided to take their year-long friendship to the next level in 2009, just months before they were both deployed to Afghanistan as public relation officers in the military.
They spent nine months apart, only seeing each other when their paths crossed by chance in a war zone.
Mr Oldaker returned to Australia in May, 2010 and was met by Mrs Oldaker, who returned a few months earlier.
He proposed at the airport with a ring he purchased in Dubai and the couple were married in September, 2010.
They recently rode in the Wagga Anzac Day parade to represent the Lighthorse division.
