A BLACK Holden Commodore caught streaking along the Hume Highway in the gloom of twilight was doing almost twice the speed limit, police say.

According to police, a 31-year-old Victorian man was driving south at Jugiong when he was clocked at 159km/h in a 110km/h zone about 6.20pm on Sunday. Police followed the Commodore as it continued south at up to 215km/h. The driver was charged with exceeding the speed by more than 45km/h, driving at a dangerous speed and driving while disqualified.
