One Ashmont resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, asked: “If it’s kids, where are their parents?”
“If they are adults, why has the court system not taken a hard enough stance on them, they will be repeat offenders more often than not,” they said.
“At what point do you stop thinking of their rehabilitation and future prospects over the destructiveness they have caused and the victims they have created?”
“At what point do you say enough is enough?”
Firefighters were called at 2.51am on Saturday to Webb Park to extinguish the blaze.
It took around 20 minutes for the fire to be put out.
Inspector Mark Murphy of Wagga police said the silver Toyota Corolla had been reported stolen from Ashmont on March 25 before residents reported the blaze early on Saturday morning.
The fire is still under investigation and follows a spate of torched cars found in Ashmont earlier this year.
In February, police questioned two teenagers in relation to a burnt out car found on the grounds of the Ashmont Preschool and other cars found torched in the suburb.
While not ruling out the possibility the latest car found on Saturday was linked, Inspector Murphy was keen to point out that it was still only a possibility as police were still investigating the matter.
“Community input is essential with all crimes, it’s something the community can assist us with greatly,” Inspector Murphy said.
He called for anyone with information to contact Wagga police on 6922 599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Inspector Murphy urged Wagga residents to ensure their cars were locked in garages and parked off the street.
Meanwhile on Saturday night, the state election wasn’t the only hot topic with firefighters called to a restaurant on Baylis Street.
Called at 7.47pm, three crews attended, quickly bringing the blaze under control with two dry chemical extinguishers.
Two people were evacuated from the kitchen, no one was injured and no structural damage reported.
The Hume Highway was closed on Sunday at 2pm near Gundagai after a head-on collision between two cars.
Traffic was significantly delayed while paramedics attended to four patients, aged 39, 62, 50 and 17.
Three patients were taken to Wagga Base Hospital with minor injuries.
