WHEN we got up this morning it was already blowing a treat. By the time church parade started at 9.30a.m. it was that bad you could not keep your eyes open to see where we were going. The parson cut the service short. One hymn then the benediction, the short sermon, God Save the King, finish. Did nothing after dinner. Jack Pearson and his mate came out and were telling us that Sir Ian Hamilton had arrived at Cairo and held a big service there of the British Territorials this morning. He reckons that the pommies beat the Aust. easy at marching in step. Late at night we got orders for a big review.
