Alec, 24, continues to improve after initially being in a critical condition after surgery on February 26 to remove a .22 bullet and being placed in an induced coma.
A hospital spokesman said his condition was stable.
Updates on Alec’s condition have been posted on the Facebook page of the Narrandera Imperial Football and Netball Club.
Club president Gavin Sullivan was not available on Tuesday, but vice-president Graham Flynn said from all reports Alec’s condition had improved significantly since the operation.
He said the Paterson family were stalwarts of the club, with Alec’s parents John and Kim having held a number of positions.
“As a club we will do all we can to support them at this time,” Mr Flynn said.
John Paterson reported on Facebook on Sunday that Alec had stood up, showered and was speaking clearly.
