Jason and Analo Jarvis’s fairytale wedding ended in horror from an unprovoked incident the day after they were married.

It has caused the couple great concern for their unborn child and left them with no desire to return to Wagga out of fears of similar incidents.

The pair was spending the evening of February 22 taking photos of one another at the gardens the day after they were married in Tumbarumba.

They were filling in time between dinner and movie when an unknown man approached the couple in full light at about 7.30pm.

“This fella came over and started abusing us,” Mr Jarvis.

He allegedly hurled derogatory comments towards the Filipino Mrs Jarvis, demanding the couple leave the gardens as they belonged to him.

A scuffle broke out between Mr Jarvis and the man after he struck Mrs Jarvis across the back of the head.

“My wife was in shock, she was really scared,” Mr Jarvis said.

“We’ve been worried that Analo could of lost our (12-week in utero) baby over being so scared and stressed.”

The couple was so shocked that they left the gardens and flagged down a police car.

The man was taken to Wagga police station.

“I was dumbfounded because you never expect something like that (to happen),” Mr Jarvis said.

“We ended up at the cop shop filing reports instead of the movies.”

The ordeal has left Mrs Jarvis so shaken she wishes never to return to Wagga.

“I probably won’t be able to take Analo to Wagga again because it scared her that much,” Mr Jarvis said.

An ambulance examined Mrs Jarvis at the police station, but she suffered only minor injuries.

“I was told by police that the man hadn’t been charged and wouldn’t be able to be charged (if) he was mentally disturbed,” Mr Jarvis said.

But Wagga Inspector Mark Murphy confirmed a 42-year-old man had been charged with two counts of common assault and one count of assaulting police in relation to the matter.

The man faced Wagga Local Court on February 23.

“The court sent him for a mental health assessment,” Inspector Murphy confirmed.
