MARRAR has upped the ante for its Farrer League premiership campaign with the return of a favourite son and an additional key signing.
Two-time Gerald Clear Medallist Brad Langtry will return home to play at Marrar after three years at Essendon and District Football League club Doutta Stars.
The Bombers have also signed Coolamon representative forward Mitch O'Brien.
Langtry, 27, established himself as one of Riverina's premier midfielders in his last stint with Marrar, where he claimed the Gerald Clear Medal in 2010 and 2011, and finished runner up behind Brad Aiken in 2009.
Langtry's last three years at Marrar ended in three grand final losses and a desire to end the club's 18-year premiership drought is one of the motivating reasons behind his decision to return to the Bombers.
"It's just because it's my home club," Langtry said.
"I was always going to come back, it was just a matter of when and the timing is right now.
"Marrar has recruited pretty well and hopefully we can be successful."
Langtry proved his game at a higher level, finishing runner up twice in Doutta Stars' best and fairest during his three years at the club.
A strong ball-winning midfielder, Langtry will juggle football with his work commitments and travel from Melbourne.
First year Marrar coach Nic Casey is thrilled to welcome Langtry back.
"It tops us off, we all know he's a class individual with a proven track record, he had a lot of interest in Melbourne and we were lucky enough to get his signature," Casey said.
"At the end of the day, he's coming home to play with mates and that's the best part.
"We all know Mitch O'Brien is a game-winner on his day too and he'll add another string to our bow and make it a pretty potent forward line."
O'Brien took his game to new heights in 2013 in Coolamon's premiership year.
He only managed nine senior games last year as he battled injury.
O'Brien will compliment a Marrar forward line that consists the likes of Brad Turner, Matt Molkentin, Casey and Graeme Reid.
Turner underwent shoulder surgery this week but hopes to be back early to mid season.
