THE race for the Farrer League premiership is set to be the hottest of the last decade with Northern Jets the latest club to enjoy a signing spree.
The Jets missed finals last year and new coach Darren Jackson has been quick to restock and reload with a strong recruitment drive.
Jackson unveiled the signing of Jake Peters on Wednesday, a forward, on-ball type currently playing in the Northern Territory, and midfielder Tennyson Vance.
Peters compliments the key signings of Marcus Jackson, Cieran O'Rourke, Sam Fisher and Brad Moye.
The Jets have also welcomed back Ben Gaynor, as well as picked up Coolamon pair Mitch Robinson and Kurt Stubenrauch among others.
Jackson is happy with how his squad is coming together.
"The good part about it is that a lot of the blokes we've picked up are local blokes coming back," Jackson said.
"We're looking good and numbers have been great at training."
The Jets are yet to lose a player from last year's team with its Canberra recruits all re-committed for another season.
Cieran O'Rourke is the brother of Declan, already at the club, and has played with Eastlake in AFL Canberra's division one.
Vance is set to be used by Jackson as a tagger and he played a couple of seasons with Finley and will move to Wagga this year.
Peters is currently in Northern Territory but is moving to Albury once the Darwin season is finished, and will travel with Jets best and fairest winner Dane Keenes.
Jackson is happy with the recruitment drive and said it is needed if the Jets want to compete with the top teams in the competition this year.
He loves how competitive the competition is set to be.
"I reckon it's great, it's fantastic for the league," he said.
"That's what you need and with clubs like Barellan coming in too, it's fantastic."
The Jets will hold a training camp at Yarrawonga on February 7 and 8.
They already have trial games locked in against West Wyalong, Narrandera and Berrigan.
The Jets resume training on Friday week.
