A RETURN to finals has been spruiked at Griffith for the past five years but Swans coach Brandon Mathews is confident it can turn into a reality next season on the back of a strong recruitment drive.
Griffith has been one of the big movers over the off-season and this week was able to add further firepower to its squad with the signings of Tom Groves, Josh Hamilton and Ryan Hamilton.
Groves is a Griffith junior that will return home to Coleambally next year and link with the Swans as their assistant coach after five seasons with Victorian Football League (VFL) club Coburg.
Josh Hamilton played five games with Griffith last season and has committed to 2015 on a full-time basis, while he will be joined by his brother Ryan.
Ryan Hamilton has spent the past couple of years off but last played with Hume League club Holbrook.
The latest signings come on the back of Griffith's early coup of Queanbeyan trio Will Griggs, Ben King and Sam Daniel.
The Swans have not played finals since 2006 but Mathews is hopeful Griffith will have the personnel to climb the Riverina Football League (RFL) ladder next season.
"We want to play finals like any other side and we think we're a fair chance with what we've recruited," Mathews said.
"Everyone wants to win it but we've got to get there first and I think that's going to come down to the guys that have been here for a while."
Mathews believes the addition of key recruits can only help the existing Griffith players improve.
"We've probably got a lot of guys, the likes of Fallon, Toscan, Gastin, where we need more good players around them so they can get better," he said.
"They've been asked to do too much without learning.
"We need to start to develop our players and to do that, we need some good quality recruits so how them how to train and go about preparing for games.
"We know what we're going to get from the recruits but the improvement is going to come from the guys that are already here, they're going to make the difference in the end.
"If that happens, I think we'll be able to put together a side that can give it a good shake."
Groves, 25, is set to slot in at centre-half-back for the Swans.
He missed most of this year with a broken foot but played 16 games with Coburg's senior team in 2013.
The Swans aim to use Josh Hamilton up forward, alongside the likes of Mick Duncan and James Toscan.
Griggs, King and Daniel will make up Griffith's midfield, under giant ruckman Michael Griffiths.
Che Jenkins is also expected to return to the field next year after missing most of this season with an ankle injury.
In ominous signs for opposition clubs, Griffith hopes to land a further three recruits in coming weeks.
Star midfielder Guy Orton and Tom Webb are the Swans' only depatures.
