Turvey Park station commander Jeff Edwards said four trucks attended the fire at 6 Cottee Street.
"The fire was quite severe," he said.
The fire is believed to have broken out at 9.10am, its cause remains unknown.
Firefighters entered the house through the front door, wearing breathing apparatuses due to thick smoke and intense heat.
A search and rescue was carried out and no occupants were found inside the property.
Commander Edwards said 38 millimetre hoses were fed through the windows to put out the fire, with preventative measures put in place to stop the blazes from spreading to a neighbour's house.
Investigations have been handed over to police who are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
It is being treated as suspicious.
