On Wednesday a small group of people gathered under this tree and heard about the six great kids shows for 2015.
You probably weren’t there, so I’d like you to step under the leaves now.
The first show in the Kids Season is called The Lizard of Oz and is the latest venture from Mark Grentell and Peter Cox, of Backyard Ashes fame.
The Lizard of Oz is a unique interpretation of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and is told from the perspective of a young Australian girl Dotty.
It follows her mysterious journey through the magical land of central Oz. It uses some of the more basic elements of the famous book to craft out its own animated and elaborated version of the story from a completely Australian perspective.
The Wollundry Lagoon foreshore will be the location for this wonderful show, bringing summer holiday fun for the whole family.
Come and see what happens when Cyclone Matilda transports Dotty and her pet Blue Heeler Dodo to the middle of Oz, to the bizarre town of Wiggle Waggle just outside of Woop Woop!
Join Dotty and Dodo, and their new friends Kookaburra, Bitza the Platypus and The Zany Emu in this flying machine on their journey to meet The Lizard of Oz.
On Wednesday morning, two cast members sung a couple of songs from The Lizard of Oz, on the lawn in front of the Civic Theatre.
Dotty (Jacqueline Irvine) and Bitza the Platypus (Jamie Way) were accompanied by Peter J Casey on keyboards.
Other cast members will be Karla Hillam, Michelle Brasier and Andrew Strano.
The show features beautifully crafted costumes, including sculpted headpieces, created by Aron Dosiak. Aron has done extensive work for Erth, the company that has brought Dinosaur Petting Zoo and I, Bunyip to Wagga Wagga audiences
The Lizard of Oz will be performed at twilight on the Wollundry Lagoon foreshore from January 23 to February 8, 2015.
