AG COLLEGE has gotten onto the front foot early, announcing Nick McCarthy will coach the club in 2015.

McCarthy will return to the club after four years of coaching experience in Canberra.

He had two years with Uni-Norths before coaching Queanbeyan Whites' second grade team for the past two seasons.

Coming back in a non-playing capacity, the 29-year-old is excited by the prospect of taking charge of a first grade team for the first time.

Moving back to Wagga two months ago, McCarthy returns for his third stint with the club.

Playing with Aggies in 2004 and 2005 he moved away before coming back as a player in 2008 then moving in an administrator and coaching role in in his last season with the club in 2010.

With a large turnover of players in the past two seasons, McCarthy believes the club performed well to make the premier division last season.

Making the top tier once again in his sights, but he believes he's got a good base to work with.

"As the season wore on they obviously struggled to get a good side on the park and getting the results, but I'm excited about the challenge ahead," McCarthy said.

"I know there are a few guys are keen to pull the boots on again, that have come back from other competitions, so it's just a matter of time and seeing what we get when the players turn up in March.

"I think we have enough of a platform there as shown this season, we were still a good enough to make the top half of the draw with a big turnover in players."

A large Canberra brigade will return to Ag College in 2015 with Ben Leaper and Tom Dunstan returning to the club.

Leaper will return with an assistant coaching role.

One of 2014's co-coaches James Kanaley has left the club after moving to Moree for work, but Stu Garrett is expected to remain with Aggies.

After having to wait until February to secure a coach for 2014, president Phil Koch was thrilled with how advanced Ag College are ahead of the 2015 season.

"I think it's great for the club to have direction this early before the season," he said.

"We've already got pre-season training under way and are really looking forward to a big year."

With his coaching experience in Canberra, Koch believes McCarthy is the man to lead the club forward.

McCarthy likened Ag College's organisation ahead of this season to the Canberra's Premier Division.

Ag College started training earlier this month, with more serious preparations to begin once university returns next year.

In a special year for Ag College, the club will celebrate its 65th anniversary in 2015.

A reunion ball will be a highlight of the celebrations.

With plenty of old faces returning to the club for the celebrations, Aggies are hoping it will provide an incentive for former players to return to the playing field.

"We are very organised this year and already have been recruiting and hoping to have some people coming back plus some new faces to the club," Koch said.

"It's very good to be so organised and it leaves us time to get ready for the season and give us a better preparation."
