Anomaly Software recently launched Where's My Whisper, an iPad book that has already had hundreds of paid downloads from iTunes.
Director Devraj Mukherjee said Anomaly Software was looking at expanding its business into education applications, with Where's My Whisper the first "book" developed.
"We are a product-based business and education is one of our interests," Mr Mukherjee said.
"This is going to be the first for us - we're a technology business and we had to test it first to make sure it worked."
The technology allows the weather in the story to change with local weather conditions at the time of reading.
"Even though it's the same story, the weather in the book synchronises with what's happening at the time, so they get the four seasons ," he said.
The app costs $3.79 and has been downloaded more than 300 times so far.
Anomaly Software has been operating for more than eight years and counts Charles Sturt University and De Bortoli Wines among its clients.
Mr Mukherjee said the "apps" business was tough, competing in a global market, but believes it's a field where Anomaly Software can prosper.
"It's very difficult to measure success, but it's a matter of perspective and creating a niche," he said.
