Bowlers from as far away as Canberra, Lake Cargelligo and Albury will be competing in the great event, but the home club will be out to keep the title in Wagga.
Rules Club bowls chairwoman Lyn Carroll yesterday revealed a "full house" of 28 teams will be on the greens at the club today and tomorrow chasing a $1500 first prize.
Carroll said 84 bowlers would be playing in the tournament, which is celebrating its 12th anniversary.
"It all came about from an idea to invite good players from all over to play at the club," Carroll said.
"It's now been running for 12 years and is a wonderful way to meet new bowlers and to make new friends."
Carroll said the select field of 84 bowlers had come together after a "long process".
"Being an invitation event, teams are invited to play," she said.
"Invitations are sent out in April and the first 28 teams to reply are included.
"Teams come from all over. We'll have players from Albury, Canberra, Leeton and Lake Cargelligo and many other places.
"It's a tremendous promotion for the Rules Club, which is the major sponsor."
Carroll and team-mates Leonie Maher and Joan Stair will be out to capture the coveted the Invitation Triples title for the second time in three years.
The three bowlers won the event in 2012, while fellow Rules Club players Jan Wilson, Carroll Freeman and Barbara Cotterill took out the event last year.
Carroll said the prospect of the Rules Club completing a "treble" would be a remarkable achievement, given the quality of the opposition.
"It will be a tough tournament to win," she said.
With prizemoney of $1500 for first, $750 for second and $450 for third, the Invitation Triples is among the richest ladies bowlers tournaments in the region.
"Each of the winning players will get $500 each," Carroll said.
The Rules Club bistro provides all meals for the competitors, with players later catching up following each days play.
"Afterwards we sit down and have a wine or a coffee," Carroll said.
"It's all about friendship."
