Coming the day after blockbusting Gundagai prop Rulon Nutira revealed he had secured an NRL contract for 2015, the hasty announcement that Tigers had landed Naseri was the perfect response.
Groomed for rugby league in Griffith, Naseri twice represented Country (2011, 2012) before playing for the Illawarra Cutters in the NSW Cup competition in 2013.
This year, Naseri's football odyssey took him to the ACT for a swashbuckling season with West Belconnen in the Canberra domestic competition.
And now the powerful and aggressive forward is set to land in Gundagai.
Speaking to The Daily Advertiser yesterday, Woo could not hide his delight at Naseri joining the Tigers.
"He's (Naseri) a pretty big signing," Woo said yesterday.
"It'll be great having someone of his calibre, and with so much experience, to help the players coming through next year.
"We're stoked he's come on board."
With Nutira's departure leaving a hole in the impressive Gundagai pack, Naseri's the imminent arrival at Gundagai could not have been any better timed.
After a barnstorming debut season with the Tigers this year, Nutira has been snapped up by St George Illawarra for a shot at the NRL next year.
Despite the loss of his frontline forward, Woo is far from begrudging the Kiwi his shot at potential NRL glory with the Dragons.
"When he (Nutira) came here that was the plan (NRL contract)," Woo said.
"We're stoked for him.
"He's a big loss, but he got to where he wanted to be."
For Woo, Nutira's move has been complicated by rugged winger Matt Sauni's return to New Zealand.
"He's (Sauni) left a fair hole," Woo said.
"But we have retained the most of the rest of the boys we had this year."
Significantly, young gun hooker James Luff, booming centre Damian Willis and crunching winger Phil Latu are all signed by the Tigers for 2015, while playmaker James Smart is also in the mix again.
"He (Smart) hasn't ruled it out (playing)," Woo said.
"He'll still be working in Wollongong and we'll have to wait and see."
Further boosting Gundagai's stocks for 2015, hefty New Zealand prop Vince Brown has agreed to stay next year, a bonus with Nutira off the scene.
"We're pretty happy with how we're looking," Woo said.
"The fact that our (Gundagai) reserve grade team won the grand final shows we have a lot of depth."
Three weeks on for Gundagai's fading loss to Albury in the preliminary final, the pain is still raw for Woo.
"In the scheme of things losing after leading by eight points was pretty disappointing," he said.
