Shooting at the Blue Heeler Classic at Big Springs on Sunday, Hall showed pinpoint accuracy to group five shots within 1.559cm of the centre of the target on a 300-metre range.
Event organiser Greg Hannan yesterday said experts rated Hall's performance as a benchmark for rifle shooters in NSW and Victoria at least.
"It's definitely a course record for our range at Big Springs," Hannan said.
"It's very good shooting."
Hannan said Hall had achieved a dream result by firing five shots to within a breath of the "fly" on the target.
"There's no bulls-eye, just a March fly diagram," Hannan said.
"Anthony Hall put his five shots closer than anyone has seen."
Among 44 shooters to competing at the Blue Heeler Classic, Hall was later crowned as the overall winner at the event.
Hannan said shooters had travelled from as far away as Melbourne and the Hunter Valley for the chance to shoot on the Big Springs range.
"It was a really successful two days," Hannan said.
"We had 44 shooters for the 300m shoot on Saturday, but few less shooting over the 500m on Sunday.
"The shooters came from all over.
"We had shooters from the Hunter Valley, Melbourne, Canberra, Albury, Griffith, Leeton, Narrandera and West Wyalong.
"And, of course, Batemans Bay."
Wagga junior shooter Andrew Wright was in great form at Big Springs, winning several trophies and beating adults in the process, while 15-year-old Tori Colls also shot with great precision.
