Yesterday, the Wagga City Aeroclub hosted its annual Young Eagles flying session, aimed at promoting a love of the aeronautics to young people in the city.

Thirteen-year-old Zach Burton had the experience of a life-time as he circled Wagga airport in pilot Geoff Breust's Piper Cherokee Arrow.

"It was the ride of your life - great fun," Zach said.

"I've always had an interest in flying, but this has given me a boost.

"It's something you'll never forget."

Mr Breust volunteers his time to the club to give young people an opportunity to experience a love that has given him so much joy.

"I like to talk to people and give them an understanding of what's involved," he said.

Club president John Smith remarked on the wide range of careers in the aeronautical industry.

"We want to introduce people (to flying), get more people involved and plant the seed in kids' minds," Mr Smith said.

Mr Smith is a touring pilot, spending much of his time flying across the country and taking people on fishing trips in Western Australia.

"My love is touring over all the areas."

With the clear skies and vibrant sun painting a picturesque scene, it was hard to imagine anything more tempting than hopping in a plane and seeing a bird's-eye-view of beautiful Wagga.
