Yesterday, Neil Parker, of Tow and Farm had the product launch of dreams.

His brand new machine, released at the show, was judged machine of the year.

The Tow and Fert Multi 4000 is an innovative fertiliser applicator, allowing farmers to mix and apply foliar and fine particle fertilisers.-

Farmers can mix powder with water to ensure a better and more even coverage can be easily applied.-

Mr Parker said the machine was both cost and time effective.

"We've been developing the machine for the past 10 years and we released our 1000 litre version three years ago in New Zealand, Mr Parker said.

"We actually released the 4000 litre version (which won the award) here at Henty, brand new for the public.

"For the farmers to come and have a look at," he said.

Farmers mix dried form urea (fertiliser) with water, increasing its spreadability and dramatically reducing the amount of fertilizer needed.-

"It halves the amount of urea (fertiliser) a farmer would use," Mr Parker said.

"A typical farmer would use 100 kilograms (of urea) in dry form.

"With ours they only need 40 to 45 kilograms." 

At $102,000 the machine is not cheap, but Mr Parker said most farmers would pay back the outlay cost in savings, very quickly.

"They can pay that back between 12 months and two years," he said.

Admitting many farmers were sceptical about investing in new machinery, Mr Parker was grateful for the exposure.-

"I'm very surprised and honoured to win the award, I must admit," he said.-

"Winning the award and getting recognition helps (with sales).-

"A lot is word of mouth, once someone's got it, farmers love talking across the fence." -

Machine of The Year chairman Matt Bergmeier praised the machine's flexibility and adaptability.-

"The Tow and Fert Multi 4000 had the ability to use four basic forms of product - any solid fertiliser that is soluble in water; solid insoluble fine-particle product, liquid fertilisers and biologically active fertiliser," Mr Bergmeier said.-

"Serviceability and ease of use was quite good, it was well built and has a phone app to help with calibration."
