The ship might have sailed on the last story time for the school term, but it was a case of "ahoy there" for dozens of future buccaneers who let their hair down to have a bit of fun.
Many donned their finest pirate attire as the typically quiet children's story time session was transformed into a celebration of singing, dancing and pirate talk.
Hats, patches and swords were must-have accessories.
Ye might ask why?
T'was International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Acting manager of library services Chrissie Bolton said it was a little known fact librarians were actually pirates and physical storytelling was the, arrr, perfect way to sail out of the current term.
"We're just encouraging kids to dress up and talk like pirates, be silly and have some fun," she said.
"Libraries are a great place for kids to hand out and share stories that are not only out of a book, but told."
Across the country, the day raises awareness of the impact childhood cancer has on families and people were urged to dig up some of their hidden treasure for the cause.
