The Walk to D'Feet MND next month will continue in its second year to raise awareness and money for research into the disease that claims more and more lives each year.

Last year's inaugural event, which drew entrants as far as Albury, Forbes and Griffith, raised more than $25,000 for the MND Association.

"It's to raise awareness about the disease and let people know it's on the incline," local event organiser Pat O'Hara said.

"It can affect anybody."

The 5.5km walk around Lake Albert is pram, wheelchair and dog-on-lead-friendly.

Entrants can register online at Everyday Hero to launch their fund-raising quest.

"They can expect to enjoy a lovely walk around Lake Albert with a purpose to support the cause," Mrs O'Hara said.

"I'd encourage everyone to come along and help us find a cure."

Mrs O'Hara, whose husband died from MND four years ago aged 60, has praised the money and awareness raised by the trending ice bucket challenge.

A bucket of ice is poured over someone who then nominates another three people to follow suit within 48 hours.

In three months alone, America has raised $13 million and Australia $2 million.

"I really feel confident they'll find a cure," she said.

"It's fantastic, I love it.

"If they can find a cure, they can throw thousands over me."

She is due to go under the ice this Saturday.

The MND Association is the only one in NSW and ACT that supports people living with all types of the disease.

Teams of family, friends, colleagues and individuals will walk in their free event shirts, before South Wagga Rotary provides a free barbecue for entrants.
