WAGGA Tigers captain-coach Matt Rava will give himself until the last minute to prove his fitness for Sunday's elimination final against Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong at Narrandera Sportsground.
Rava has been named to take his place in the Tigers' team but is still no certainty to line-up in the sudden death final.
He visited the physiotherapist again on Friday and will go for a run Saturday afternoon to see whether he will be able to play.
"It's still progressing," Rava said.
"I'll give myself until the last minute, I'm pretty keen to play obviously but if I'm not going to be any good then there is no point.
"We might as well put someone who can run out there.
"I reckon I'm a 60-40 chance but if I play this week and we do happen to get over the line and I can't play for next week well that's no good.
"I've got a bit of a decision to make."
Rava's injury has continued a terrible run of luck for Tigers this season.
At least five top players have already endured season-ending injuries, while another two face the possibility of playing no part in the finals series.
Tigers have beaten GGGM on both occasions this season, the last time being a fortnight ago when winners by 50 points.
Rava is confident his team can get the job done again.
"Yeah, obviously earlier in the year was a close one at Ganmain but it was a good win the other day even though they had a few out," Rava said.
"I thought we moved the ball pretty well so we're reasonably confident we can get the win up, if we play to our game plan and have 22 contributors.
"But obviously they're going to be a lot tougher than last time."
Rava did not hide the fact that Tigers will look to use their run to their advantage.
"Obviously that's a strength of ours this year, our run and carry with the ball and we'll be looking to continue that," he said.
"We'll have to tweak a few different things with Angus Durnan out up forward.
"We'll be a bit smaller up there but we're not too worried about that, there is plenty of space on the big ground, we've just got to make sure the movement is there, that's the main thing."
