At one stage, ice reportedly covered the Sturt Highway east of Wagga.
Hail has fallen in other parts of the region, including Boorooma, Big Springs and Ladysmith.
While there were plenty of rumbles and dark skies, only a few spots of rain were felt in central Wagga.
