MATER Dei Catholic College will have every chance of taking home the trophy for "junior team of the year" at this month's Wagga Sports Awards presentation night.
The college has two of its successful sporting teams nominated for the same award.
The school's Carroll Cup and Gunson Shield winning teams are among 10 nominees vying to be named "junior team of the year".
Mater Dei Primary School is also on the list for its recent Mortimer Shield victory.
As usual, all eyes will be on the nominations for junior and senior sportsperson of the year.
The two categories will be hotly contested once again.
Wagga's own AFL star Harry Cunningham is the latest nominee to join the list of senior month winners.
The Sydney Swans' young gun earned his spot on the list by winning the AFL's round 15 NAB Rising Star award.
Emerging motocross ace Brandon Demmery has the chance to cap off a stellar racing season by winning the junior person award, following his July nomination.
The Daily Advertiser's panel of sports experts will spend the next fortnight sifting through the nominations in an effort to select one standalone winner in each of the four categories.
All nominees are invited to the Wagga Sports Awards presentation night on Wednesday, August 27 at the Commercial Club.
Invitations will be sent out and should arrive in the coming fortnight.
