TEMORA is bracing itself for the worst possible news on injured midfielder Sam Fisher.
Fisher, 21, has been sidelined for a month as he battled to recover from what was initially just a sprained ankle, sustained against Northern Jets on June 21.
As the injury failed to heal itself, the club opted to investigate further and scans have now revealed a ligament in his foot is torn completely off the bone.
Fisher is currently waiting to hear back from a Sydney specialist on the best course of action going forward.
He says a best-case scenario would see him return to the football field during the Farrer League finals series.
He has basically conceded his season is done and dusted.
"At the moment it's not looking too good," Fisher said.
"I reckon I'd be very lucky to play another game this season.
"They can give me an injection which will have me back in about two or three weeks, but even then (coach Mark) Kruger will probably want me to rest for five or six weeks.
"Most likely I'll need an operation on it."
It's a cruel blow to Fisher as the young onballer chases a third consecutive premiership with Temora.
He joined the club four years ago from Northern Jets and has played a big part in the Kangaroos' back-to-back flags.
It's also a big loss to the club, who already has premiership defender Liam Pattison out for the year with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
Temora is currently battling through injuries to a number of its top-end players.
Coach and midfielder Mark Kruger (groin) and tough midfielder-defender Tim McAuley (knee) are at least a week away from returning from their respective injuries.
Ruckman Chris Stacey and forward utility Luke Gerhard both returned through reserve grade on Saturday and will be a chance to line up against Charles Sturt University this week.
Teenage gun Jack Irvine has also missed games through state and GWS representative commitments but should be available this week.
