Brooke Peterson, now a Brisbane woman, is a mother of one-year-old Ruby, an expectant mother, a daughter and granddaughter.
Ms Peterson acknowledges that she shares remarkable family links and said "the greatest thing you can give to your children is the memories of their family".
"When they grow up you would hope you would want to keep those family connections close," she said.
"Families today are very, very different, and sometimes they are not as close as they could be.
"It's one of those things that must always come first."
Ms Peterson said she feels like "the luckiest person in the world" as she counts down the days for her June due date.
"I don't need slippers, I don't need big presents, I just need my little one and my husband and my family around me and that's more than enough for me," she said.
Liz Piper, Brooke's mother, said she is "really excited" for Mother's Day and is planning a dinner with all four generations of family.
"I've got my presents already. They are all coming home - that's present enough; to spend time with all your children," she said.
Ms Peterson said bridging the distance between family can be hard, and said Ruby is looking forward to seeing her great-grandmother on Sunday.
"Ruby has been looking forward to it all week. This Mother's Day is definitely very special."
