Angela Syme, 25, and Taina Syme, 23, were refused bail by Magistrate Michael Antrum in Wagga Local Court on Wednesday afternoon.
The pair made separate appearances via audio-visual link (AVL) from the Junee Correctional Centre.
An application for bail was made by Ms Syme's solicitor, Selwyn Hausman, on the basis of personal circumstances and the strength of the prosecution case.
The court was told she has a one-year-old who is currently being breast-fed and another young child on medication.
Both are being looked after by her parents and concerns were raised about their ongoing care.
No application for bail was made on behalf of Mr Syme.
Both were refused bail and will front court again via AVL on July 16, with a brief of evidence to be served by July 7.
