What they didn't expect was to be hosting one of Australia's most recognised entrepreneurs who regularly appears on international rich lists.
Ruslan Kogan, mastermind behind Kogan Technologies, is estimated to have a net worth of over $300 million.
He is highly respected and has a true rags to riches background.
Next month he will be in Wagga, sharing his ideas and stories to aspiring local business people.
Not that all of the group members need any help with ideas and setting up businesses.
Founding Talking Tech member, Simone Eyles created the innovative and fast growing coffee order app 365cups and has achieved huge success and recognition.
Ms Eyles could not hide her excitement over Mr Kogan's much-anticipated visit.
"It's absolutely amazing," Ms Eyles said.
"We just sat down and and asked the group who they'd like to see," Ms Eyles said.
Deciding on Ruslan Kogan, Ms Eyles said, was easy.
"His story resonates with us all, and the success he has achieved."
The group currently works with local high schools and TAFEs to promote and encourage innovation among young people.
"There is great untapped potential," Ms Eyles said.
Ms Eyles said the changing world and constantly changing technology, meant distant and location no longer played pivotal role in success and ability to achieve exposure.
"Why can't the next best thing be in Wagga?" she said.
Kirrily Welsh, also a founding member of Talking Tech, said she will try to learn everything she can from Mr Kogan and hopes his visit to Wagga will inspire other top professionals to give regional cities a chance.
"It's a real coup to get him here," she said.
The official dates for Mr Kogan's visit are yet to be announced, but he is expected to touch down in Wagga in late May.
