A clearance has been lodged, but denied, for veteran midfielder Justin Driscoll to leave the Magpies and join Riverina Football League club Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong.
The Daily Advertiser understands he has been training with the Lions.
Driscoll, TRYC coach Dave Pieper, and GGGM coach Jayden Kotzur were all unable to be contacted by the Advertiser yesterday for confirmation or comment.
Driscoll has been part of the furniture at Victoria Park for the best part of a decade and has been one of the club's best-loved servants during that time.
His recent football has been interrupted by various injuries and he only managed to play nine games last season, which included one best-on-ground performance as well as the grand final loss to Temora.
Driscoll's departure would be another cruel blow to the 2013 grand finalist, who has already confirmed the loss of ruckman Jason Smith, key forwards Mitch Ward and Luke Webb, and back-up ruckman Tim Hahn.
A clearance for backman Casey Hillary to join the Piccola and District League has also been lodged and is pending.
Gun midfielder Tom Yates is yet to confirm whether he is staying at the Magpies or returning to O&M club Albury Tigers.
Premiership coach and versatile tall Mick Mazzocchi has also indicated he may be unavailable for a large chunk of the 2014 season.
On the other side of the scale, the Magpies have picked up just the one recruit in Luke Hillier.
But clearances are pending for Jarrod Cooper (Northern Riverina), Brent Heydon (Hume League) and Scott Wolter (Upper Murray) to join the Farrer League club.
Meantime, Northern Jets have lost another tall forward from its 2013 list.
Athletic forward Matt Etchells yesterday confirmed he will return to Wagga Tigers after two years with the Jets.
His departure follows that of former assistant coach and gun swingman John Hoey, leaving the Jets with a lack of height in the forward line.
East Wagga-Kooringal has continued its impressive pre-season recruitment with the addition of Tim Delaney, Tom Hensgen and Chris Pedler.
Pedler has returned from Upper Murray club Tumbarumba and will be a handy addition up forward, while Delaney is a young talent from Wagga Tigers.
