TWO sisters and a brother from Albury will be shooting for a rare treble of victories at the Wagga Rodeo at Equex Centre on Saturday.
Siblings Stephanie, Ellie and Ben Gard are all set to ride at the foul weather-plagued Wagga Rodeo.
The Wagga Rodeo was originally scheduled for February 15, but was cancelled due to rain which followed a fortnight of blazing heat.
With showers clearing, the Wagga Rodeo is firmly back on the agenda for Saturday, with the Gard family expected to ride with distinction.
The three Albury riders competed at the Narrandera Rodeo last Saturday, with Ben (junior steer ride) and Ellie (junior barrel race) winning a coveted event.
Likewise, Stephanie also rode with success at Narrandera, finishing third in the open breakaway roping.
Last year, 18-year-old Stephanie qualified in fifth place for the barrel race and third in the breakaway roping at the Nationals Final Rodeo on the Gold Coast, ultimately capturing the Breakaway title.
Such is her ability in the saddle, Stephanie has already competed in four finals in open ranks after being a multiple title winner as a junior.
Yet again, she will be aiming to qualify for the NFR at Caboolture on May 1-4 by picking up valuable points at the Wagga Rodeo.
The Wagga Rodeo will be the last in NSW for the current Australian Professional Rodeo Association season ending on April 30.
Rider from Queensland to South Australia will head to Wagga on Saturday for the crucial APRA fixture.
Many of the riders competed at Narrandera, desperately chasing points for the national pointscore.
The top 15 in each event will qualify for the NFR event, which is the culmination of the rodeo year.
Strathalbyn cowboy Glen Kent will come to Wagga as favourite for the saddle bronc ride after finishing second to Queenslander Adam Hamilton at Narrandera.
Emerald couple Clancy and Tenielle Middleton will also fly the flag for Queensland in Wagga.
Clancy is in the top 15 in the rope and tie, steer wrestling and team roping, but will face formidable opposition from Victoria riders Garry McPhee and Aaron Bookluck.
Due to clash of dates, Tooma star Brad Pierce and Wantabadgery brothers Cody and Rhys Angland will not ride at the Wagga Rodeo.
Pierce is getting married on Saturday and the Wagga Rodeo postponement left him with no option but to skip the drawcard.
