Turning 28 years old yesterday provided Hall with the chance to celebrate the recruitment of a quality forward with a commanding football resumé and physique to match.
In a significant boost for Kangaroos in the countdown to the start of the Group Nine premiership in April, powerful second rower Baden Hall signed on to play for the Wagga club.
The cousin of the Roos coach, Baden Hall hails from Condobolin but played with the Roosters and Tigers in his formative football years in Sydney.
Speaking to The Daily Advertiser from Condobolin yesterday, Baden Hall declared he was "hungry" for the chance to give Roos a crack at the Group Nine title in 2014.
"I spent most of last year in Europe and I can't wait to play footy again," Hall said yesterday.
"I'm really looking forward to it.
"I'm more hungry after having had the year off."
Coming after Roos shed several key players from last season, including Hayden Davis and Peta Simmonds, the recruitment of Hall is a huge bonus for the club.
At 191cm and 100kg - he'll play four kilograms heavier - Hall has the build and ability to take up where Davis left off last year.
Kiwi enforcer Davis provided Roos with most of their muscle in 2013 and Hall is sure to be encouraged to take a similar line in the upcoming Group Nine season.
For his part, Hall has set a firm agenda.
"I just want to play some decent footy," Hall said with emphasis.
"I know how strong the Group Nine competition is and I want to really have a go."
Born and bred in Condobolin, Hall moved to Sydney a late teenager to try his hand at busting into the NRL.
After playing in junior representative teams at the Roosters and Tigers, Hall got "sick" of the city and moved back to the bush.
Now 25, Hall is razor keen to give his cousin as much help as humanly possible as Roos gun for the most competitive Group Nine crown in years.
"I want to do all I can with what I learned in Sydney," he said.
Fresh from a year off, Hall seems set to play a leadership role with the youthful Wagga team.
"I know it's a young side," he said.
"I'm only 25 and I'll be one of the older blokes."
Keen to secure a trade in Wagga, Hall will move to the city next month, in time to start pre-season training with Kangaroos.
He admits his twin brother was unlikely to follow him to Roos.
"He has a knee reconstruction last year and I don't think he'll be playing," Hall said.
Roos will open the Group Nine premiership with an Anzac Day blockbuster against resurgent Brothers at Robertson Oval.
