According to police, a 42-year-old Collingullie man drove to a property on Tribolets Road about 7.30pm and allegedly discharged a number of shots towards another man and two boys who were standing in the yard.
The boys, aged 12 and 15, took cover behind a ute before running into their house and calling police.
None were injured in the incident, which is believed to have been a dispute between two neighbours.
The alleged offender then drove to another house on the property, which he is believed to have entered.
General duties officers, detectives and specialist members of the police state protection group established a perimeter around the man’s house and attempted to communicate with him.
When police entered the house about 2.35am this morning they found the man unconscious in the lounge room.
He was taken to Wagga Base Hospital under guard and later airlifted by helicopter to St George Hospital in Sydney for treatment.
Wagga police duty officer, Inspector Stephen Radford, told The Daily Advertiser it isn't clear what caused the man's state of unconsciousness, but it wasn't a result of police action.
Investigations are continuing.
