ACCOMPLISHED Leeton-Whitton footballer Brad Boots is set to join Ovens and Murray League club Lavington.
In a big blow to the Crows, Boots has moved to Albury and will link up with Lavington for the upcoming season.
The 24-year-old has moved to Albury with his partner due to employment and had to make the tough call to depart the Crows after 148 games.
Boots made his senior debut at 16 and has proven a wonderful servant of Leeton-Whitton.
He is a best and fairest winner, club captain and has represented Riverina Football League on multiple occasions.
Boots moved to Albury this week and is looking forward to the challenge of Ovens and Murray League football.
"It's obviously a step up from the RFL so it's going to be a challenge but I'm looking forward to it," Boots said today.
"I'm really looking forward to the challenge and trying to get a permanent spot in first grade."
Boots has already been to a couple of pre-season sessions at Lavington and has been impressed by his new club.
"They started pre-season before Christmas so I went to a few runs and they all seem really nice blokes," Boots said.
"It will be good this year, they've signed Justin Koschitzke so it will be good to try and team up with him.
"It's very exciting."
Boots played predominantly through the midfield at Leeton-Whitton but was also highly effective when forward.
He hopes to be able to play a similar role at Lavington.
"Probably my best chance is somewhere in the forward line," Boots said.
"Swapping on-ball hopefully, the same thing I was doing at Leeton."
The loss of Boots is a serious blow to the Crows, who are yet to unveil a new signing for the upcoming season.
Boots admitted it was a tough call to leave.
"It definitely wasn't ideal to leave the Crows," Boots said.
"That's where I love playing footy but I've got to do it.
"Obviously Dave Meline is coaching this year, he's a champion and I would have loved to play under him."
The departure of Boots is the second significant loss for Leeton-Whitton after Jarrod Gornall moved back to Wagga and signed with Marrar.
The club is also not continuing the experiment of travelling Matt Smith and Brad Carver.
Boots will join Leeton-Whitton junior Zac Hopper at Lavington.
